My latest design in Sheep(ish) is available for free now on Bernat.com. For this one, I paired the wavy lines of the Arcade Stitch pattern with a clean, boxy cut to create a roomy, go-with-everything jacket. Penny Arcade can be dressed up by belting and pairing with a funky skirt or sleek pants. Make it casual by throwing it over a t-shirt and jeans. It works with anybody's style really, and is the perfect garment to keep around when you want to cozy-up!
Too hot to crochet this one today? Well, you can still plan ahead for the Fall. Right now through July 16th, Sheep(ish) is on sale for $2.99 a ball at participating JoAnn stores! Find a store here. Buy now, crochet later!
Stitch.Rock.Love,
Vickie

ReplyDeleteYup, there's a link in the post. :) Here you go: http://www.caron.com/vickiehowell/patterns/penny_arcade/penny_arcade.html
ReplyDeleteWhere can I find those shoes the model has on?
ReplyDeleteFrom my closet. ;-) They're Jeffrey Campbell Woodsies from last year.
ReplyDeleteOMG!! Must make this IMMEDIATELY!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Vickie! XO
Love the pattern! Only thing is that I'm a bit confused on how to start it if you could please help me out?
ReplyDeleteSure thing! What specifically are you confused about? Stitches? Supplies?
ReplyDeleteHow you start really I understand the basic concept but when it says to simply chain one are you meanining off of the foundation.chain.or just simply chain one and jump right in? Sorry I just love the jacket and I want to get it as right as I possibly can. If you are meaning off.of the foundation chain how many.do we chain?
ReplyDeleteAnd also what does ws stand for in row one?
ReplyDeleteKandace: So, here's the gig: The foundation chain is only that first row of chain stitches. After that, when you need to chain 1 (I'm assuming this is on a single crochet row), it's just to gain the height at the beginning of a row necessary to work single crochet stitches across the rest of the row. In other words, a ch1 is the same height as a sc.
ReplyDeleteWS = wrong-side
HTH!
xx, V
Vicki,
ReplyDeletethank you for the pattern, can't wait to start it. I dont see a foundation chain row start? How do i start it? and also the arcade stitch says 6 plus 1. where does that come from?
cheers,
Stephanie
Just love this! I am working on the armholes (back of jacket) and I am not sure about when it says repeat pattern? Do I go back to the arcade pattern or just keep repeating row two? My stitches aren't matching up.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the help and the pattern!
I'm having trouble opening the link you provided. Is it still avialable?
ReplyDeleteOMG! This is the perfect fall sweater coat! I am so glad to find this and can't wait to start it! On a side note I LOVE the models haircut and will be passing that along to my stylist this month! Thanks for both!
ReplyDeleteGlad this was a one-stop-shopping post for you! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI am in love with this but I cant crochet. Would you consider making it commisioned for me? alintafidzewicz@hotmail.com Thankyou:)
ReplyDeleteIt's going up for auction tomorrow at http://www.purplestitchproject.org so you can buy the one modeled, if you like!
ReplyDeleteI can not find the pattern. Thanks Kathy
ReplyDeleteHere's the new link! http://www.bernat.com/pattern.php?PID=6445
ReplyDeleteI have been looking all over the internet for this pattern. Every link does not lead me to it. Could you help me find this pattern so I can buy it?! thank you.
ReplyDeleteHi Vickie, is the pattern suggesting to start with a foundation row? If so can you explain! Thanks and beautiful work!
ReplyDeleteYes. Whenever you crochet you always start with a foundation chain. In this case it's the ch number suggested in the pattern based on the size you're making. Hope that helps! xx, V

ReplyDeleteI just have 1 and a half sleeve to make and the collar...can't wait until I am finished!!!
ReplyDeleteI know that this may sound crazy, but I love your hair. Is there anyway you could post a picture with a close up of your hair from the front, back and side?
ReplyDeleteHa! Not crazy, I've done that for people before. Alas though, my hair is in a dire state while my stylist is on maternity leave. Just tell your stylist that you want a shattered out bob. :)
